Gabrielle Giffords : Upgraded to 'Good' Condition and Moved to Houston Rehab Facility

the Arizona Congresswoman, Gabrielle Giffords who was shot in the head almost three weeks ago, has been upgraded from serious to good condition and has been transferred to the Memorial Hermann TIRR facility to begin her rehabilitation.

She had become an unseen presence at Tuesday night's State of the Union Address. President Barack Obama, Paul Ryan, who gave the Republican response, and Michele Bachmann, who gave the tea party response, each began their remarks with effusive praise and good wishes for Giffords. Members of Congress wore black and white ribbons to show solidarity with the victims of the Tucson, Ariz., shooting. Giffords apparently watched the televised coverage of the State of the Union with her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly.

Thus the plight of Giffords and her struggle to get better provided an odd and perhaps reassuring focus of unity among across the political divide in America. As Americans fight over everything from repealing health care reform to cutting back on government spending, the progress of a young congresswoman in a Houston hospital will be watched with great interest by everyone.

That bit of unity did have an exception, however. Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, another Democrat, moved to have Giffords removed from the House Armed Services Committee "pending her return to Congress."

Coming just over two weeks after Giffords was shot, the move was seen as happening just a little too soon and was squashed quickly to bipartisan outrage. The Democrats are in the minority and the absence of Giffords from House Armed Services or any other committee is not likely to be decisive.

Giffords was named ranking member of the House Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics, a subcommittee of which she was chairwoman, without any comment. Rep. Jerry Costello will be acting ranking member pending Giffords' return.

Whether Giffords has a future in the 112th Congress depends on the duration and the extent of her rehabilitation. When and if she will return to her duties, strenuous even for someone of good health, will be up to her and her doctors. However, there may be some point in the future when it may be necessary to revisit the issue of committee assignments and even Giffords' continued status as a member of Congress.

But clearly Sanchez jumped the gun. There have been a number of members of Congress who have had to take medical leave, some lasting for months, and have been able to return.

Comedian Steve Harvey is attacked by his ex-wife in YouTube videos

Read the statement from Steve Harvey's lawyer.
(CNN) -- Comedian Steve Harvey's ex-wife has posted a series of videos on YouTube about the breakup of their marriage and the bitter fight that followed.
"It's hard to put something behind that keeps popping up in your life," Mary Harvey said, pointing to an Essence magazine article this month referring to her and a lawsuit filed by her former husband.
"As I sit and talk and speak right now, there's a lawsuit that's been filed against me in Texas, because in Steve's opinion, I was responsible when Oprah didn't give him a TV show," she said. "I'm being sued for that as I sit here on this sofa today."
The three videos, which run 26 minutes, include excerpts of letters and e-mails she said she intercepted between Harvey and his current wife, Marjorie, near the end of her 16-year relationship with him.
A statement given to CNN Monday by Harvey's lawyer said: "We are appalled and aware of the videos and the other fabricated documents, which were placed on the internet over the weekend by the ex-wife of Mr. Steve Harvey, which contained false, misleading, derogatory, disparaging, malicious, explicit and slanderous information about Mr. Harvey, his current wife and others."
Steve and Mary Harvey divorced in 2005, but a bitter fight followed in which Harvey "turned my son against me, had me evicted from our house, thrown out, all the businesses, all the money, the cars," she said.
"He manipulated the courts, everything against me," she said.
Steve Harvey would not personally respond to the charges because of "existing court gag orders," lawyer Bobbie Edmonds said.
He is "taking necessary legal steps" against the ex-wife because of the videos, which he said violate court orders "which prohibit either party, their lawyers or representatives from discussing and releasing information on the internet and to the media," Edmonds said.
"We are saddened that the ex-wife has resorted to such devious and selfish behavior, with a reckless disregard for their minor son, her adult son and Mr. Harvey's other children," he said.
Steve and Mary Harvey met in 1989 and married in 1996, she said. Their son, Wynton, was born a year after their marriage.
In the videos, Mary Harvey describes the early years of their relationship as a financial struggle in which she supported his comedy career by sleeping in their car as they traveled from job to job.
The couple would sometimes survive on a jar of coins kept in their trunk, sometimes by stealing gas to make it to the next city, she said.
It was when Harvey's career was prospering that she realized "I was not alone in my relationship with my husband," she said.
"It hit me really hard" when she intercepted a love letter from a mistress on their second wedding anniversary, she said.
The letter was from the woman Harvey would later move in with and marry, Mary Harvey said.
She never got an apology, she said.
"Steve never said that he was sorry," she said. "He had our housekeeper pack his belongings up and forward those belongings to New York and after that, that was it."
The last of the three videos includes an apology letter she said Harvey's lawyer wanted her to sign.
"He wanted me to take the blame for it, in writing," she said.
CNN's Brittany Kaplan contributed to this report.

George Clooney appeared on Peir's Morgan show with his father Nick Clooney, who said "yearned for the moment" when his son would wed his current girlfriend. Clooney responded saying,

"I hate to blow your whole news story, but I was married, so I gave it a shot".Elisabetta defends her boyfriend saying, "There are some people who just don't want to see me happy. George reassures me all the time. He is very close. I feel more embraced than ever before".

Kim forcely Released From Rehab.

The 46-year-old socialite and star of 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills', Kim Richards was checked into rehab by her family for her having a drinking problem, reports the New York Daily News.
The events occured during last night's (20th January 2011) 'Real Housewives' season finale during which Richards got into a drunken argument with her sister Kyle.

In an explosive final episode, the housewives were seen celebrating the birthday of co-star TAYLOR ARMSTRONG when Kim and Kyle began to argue about a previous disagreement they had in New York. Their bickering became more heated and soon turned into a war of words in the back of a limousine. Kyle branded her sister "delusional and demented" before screaming, "You are a liar ... and you are an alcoholic! Yeah, that's right. I've said it now, and everybody knows". As the episode came to its conclusion, an on-screen message revealed that Kim's family had checked her into rehab shortly after filming had finished but that the 46-year-old had checked herself out a week later and that the sisters had not spoken since.

Kim, a former child star who appeared as the daughter of JAMES BROLIN's character in the 1977 movie 'The Car', is the aunt of socialite PARIS HILTON. Looks like the madness runs in the family!

As RadarOnline.com first revealed, Bristol also just purchased her first home in Maricopa, Arizona.
Her new pad is a five bedroom, 4,000 sq. ft. home that she paid $172,000 cash for and the same house sold for almost twice that much just three years earlier.
“It is quite a remote place for Bristol Palin to have chosen, so, unless it is for a long term investment there must be some other reason,” seller of the home, Martin and Cynthia Smith, told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview.

Bristol Palin changed her son's name?

True or false? Palin has had it with baby daddy Levi Johnston – or at least, with his name. A post on Palin’s Facebook page sent the rumor mill spinning: "Tripp Easton Mitchell Palin…PALIN!!!" No mention of Johnston. E! Online says this rumor is false.

Iggy Pop drummer, Alex Kirst, killed in hit and run

Iggy Pop drummer Alex Kirst was tragically killed on January 13 in a hit-and-run car crash in Cathedral City, California.
The 47-year-old drummer was walking on Date Palm Drive when he was struck by an SUV around 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, January 13.  There was no evidence at the scene that the driver of the car tried to hit the brakes before he or she struck Kirst.  The driver left Alex for dead after the accident.
Kirst was also a member of the 1980s and early 1990s band the Nymphs, who split after the release of only one album in 1990 on Geffen Records.  Kirst played along with his brother Whitey Kirst and Pete Marshal in Iggy Pop's solo albums Beat 'Em Up (2001) and Skull Ring (2003).
Police describe the car that struck Kirst as either a white Chevrolet Tahoe or a GMC Yukon.  Authorities believe the vehicle is between the model years of 2000 and 2006.  The car involved in the accident will have front-end damage and a broken passenger-sde headlight.
Anyone with information about this deadly hit and run is asked to call Valley Crimstoppers at (760) 341-STOP.  Tips will remain anonymous and tipsters may be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward.

Iggy Pop drummer Alex Kirst, 47, dies in hit-and-run

Drummer Alex Kirst, a member of The Nymphs glam rock band who became a member of Iggy Pop's band, was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash in the California desert. He was 47.

Cathedral City police say a white Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon struck Kirst, who was on foot, on Jan. 13.
Sgt. Paul Herrera says someone spotted Kirst on the side of Date Palm Road at about 11:45 p.m. and called police, thinking the man was intoxicated.

The sergeant tells the Palm Springs Desert Sun that there was no evidence the vehicle braked.

The Nymphs had their heyday in the late 1980s and early 1990s and disbanded after one album.
Alex and his brother Whitey joined Pete Marshal to form The Trolls, backing up Iggy Pop on his albums "Beat 'Em Up" and "Skull Ring."

The local police tell the Palm Springs Desert Sun that the vehicle is a white 2000-06 Chevy Tahoe or GMC Yukon with damage to the passenger-side front hood, bumper, headlight and grill. The car struck Kirst the night of Thursday, Jan. 13. Someone spotted him lying on the side of the road and called the police, thinking the man was drunk.

Mary Tyler Moore Reunites With Betty White After 30 Years

Mary Tyler Moore - Mary Tyler Moore Reunites With Betty White After 30 Years

MARY TYLER MOORE, the American actress who last worked with her friend BETTY WHITE on 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show' in 1977, will reunite with the 'Golden Girls' star on tonight's season premiere of 'Hot in Cleveland', reports the Examiner. The two actresses parted ways to pursue their separate careers over 30 years ago, but tonight's episode will see Tyler Moore and White sharing the screen once again.
89-year-old White appeared on GOOD MORNING AMERICA yesterday (18th January 2011) to speak about the reunion, saying, "This is the first time in 33 and a half years we have worked together". The EMMY AWARD winning actress said that despite not acting together she still talks with Tyler Moore once every three weeks, and added, "We have remained friends since the first time we met". In tomorrow's season two premiere, White's character 'Elka' is thrown in jail, where she finds Tyler Moore's character sitting in the same cell.
'Hot in Cleveland' is an American sitcom that has become the highest rated show on 'TV Land' in the network's 14-year history. It follows the story of three entertainment industry veterans whose lives are changed after their Paris bound plane suddenly lands in Cleveland, Ohio.

Jane Leeves: The Truth is Funny For Hot in Cleveland’s Jane Leeves!

BBC-0182882JANE Leeves likes to keep it real.
The actress said she learned something very important during her years on Frasier that she utilizes every day on the set of Hot in Cleveland.
“The basis of comedy, the funniest stuff, is always the truth,” Leeves said.
“If you’re in a moment that’s supposed to be funny and you try to make it funny, it’s not funny.
“You have to attack the truth of that moment and that’s what I learned doing Frasier.
David Hyde Pierce, who played Niles Crane, and Kelsey Grammer, who played Frasier Crane, would say, ‘Just go for the truth and it will be funny’.
“That applies today and it will apply 100 years from now. The truth is always funnier.
“It feels contemporary, because we are a little racy here and there, especially this season.
“We are sort of pushing the envelope as far as four women hanging out together and the things we talk about, especially the things Betty’s character talks about. But it does have that lovely, warm feeling.
“My nephew, who is 19, said to me, ‘I love the show, it’s like watching an old, familiar sitcom but it’s contemporary at the same time.’ I think that’s why young people are liking it as well as, you know, our obvious target audience.”
